KYC Pricing in the US (2026): What 12 Providers Actually Charge Per Verification — and the Billing Traps Behind the Headline Rate

Key Highlights

  • Published US KYC prices in September 2026 span $0.15 to $1.89 per verification, with monthly minimums from $0 to $299 and entry plans up to $250/month — a 12x spread on the headline rate before you account for what "a verification" means.
  • The single biggest cost driver is not the rate, it is the billing basis: Sumsub, Persona, iDenfy (optionally), ComplyCube and Ondato bill successful or completed results; Plaid charges a base fee on every attempt; Didit bills each module that runs, approved or declined. At a 35% abandonment rate, attempt-based billing is roughly 1.5x completed-based billing for the same headline price.
  • Free tiers and trials are not interchangeable. Didit's 500 free full-KYC checks per month are permanent; Socure's $1,000 monthly credits recur; Stripe's 50 free verifications are one-time; Veriff's 50 live verifications, Sumsub's 50 checks and ComplyCube's 50 checks are trial allowances; Shufti's 10 checks/month are a free-forever cap.
  • Enterprise vendors — Signzy, Jumio, Trulioo, Alloy, Incode and Entrust (Onfido) — do not publish rate cards. That is normal for platform contracts that bundle KYB, AML and monitoring; we show how to model them, and why third-party "estimates" for these vendors should not appear in your budget.
  • Total cost of ownership is dominated by manual review, pass-through data and vendor count, not the per-check line. A platform that consolidates KYC, KYB and AML — Signzy's positioning — frequently beats a cheaper point solution once the second and third vendor invoices arrive.

Editorial note: Every figure below is taken from the vendor's own pricing page or documentation as of Sep 18, 2026, unless explicitly labeled "third-party reported." Prices change often — re-verify before procurement. This is not a ranking; it is a price and billing-model reference.

The Quote-Only Vendors — and How to Model Them

VendorWhat is publicHow to build the budget line
SignzyQuote-based; platform bundles KYC (One Touch KYC), US SSN/DL data, KYB with Secretary of State search, AML screening and transaction monitoring; no-code journey builderModel as a platform consolidation: sum your current KYC + KYB + AML + monitoring invoices, then ask Signzy for a tiered per-check quote at 3 volume bands. The savings case is vendor count and review rate, not headline rate.
JumioQuote-only; volume-based per verification with commitments and add-onsRequest per-check at your annual volume; budget implementation and add-ons (AML, monitoring) separately
TruliooQuote-only; usage-based by verification type, country and volumeCountry mix drives price — quote your top 10 countries separately
AlloyQuote-only; understood to combine platform fee, usage/decision charges and pass-through data costs (third-party description)Budget three lines: platform, decisions, data pass-through. Never use reported annual ranges as official.
IncodeQuote-onlyRequest per-check plus biometric add-ons

Do not paste third-party "estimated" rates for these vendors into a budget. They vary by orders of magnitude across sites and none is confirmed by the vendor.

The Five Billing Traps That Change the Real Price

1. Attempted vs completed vs approved

At a 35% abandonment rate and a 12% decline rate on completions:

BasisBillable events per 1,000 startsEffective cost at a $1.00 headline
Per attempt (Plaid model)1,000$1,000
Per completed (Sumsub, ComplyCube, Ondato)650$650
Per approved (iDenfy add-on, Persona "successful")572$572 (+ add-on where charged)
Per module run (Didit)depends on flow; declined modules billbetween attempt and completed

Compute this on your funnel — our guide on fixing KYC drop-off shows how abandonment varies by flow design.

2. Minimums and unused credits

A $209 minimum at $1.89 buys ~110 verifications; a $299 minimum at $1.85 buys ~161. Below those volumes the effective per-check price can be several dollars. Credit models (ComplyCube) can expire.

3. Module stacking

"$0.80 per verification" is usually document-only. Adding AML screening (ComplyCube $0.35–$0.50; Ondato €0.04–€0.45), liveness ($0.10–$0.35) or a US bureau check ($0.85) can double the rate. Signzy's and Socure's bundles price these together — compare like with like.

4. Pass-through data

Orchestration platforms (Alloy) and some engines bill bureau, SSN, DMV and sanctions queries at cost on top. Our post on the best TIN verification tools in the US explains which sources carry per-query fees.

5. Manual review and false rejects

At a 10% manual-review rate and 6 minutes per case, 100,000 verifications cost ~1,000 reviewer hours. A platform that cuts review rate by 3 points saves more than a $0.20 rate difference. Signzy's parallel One Touch KYC flow is designed around this trade-off; iDenfy and Veriff publish human-review models — ask every vendor for its review rate on your population.

What KYC Actually Costs by Buyer Profile (Illustrative Model)

Assumptions: 20,000 verification starts/month, 35% abandonment, 12% decline, US consumers, AML screening required.

ProfileCheapest published routeEffective monthly cost (published rates only)What it excludes
Pre-seed fintech (<500 checks)Didit free tier$0US SSN/DMV data; KYB

Regulated bank/credit union needing KYC + KYB + AML + monitoringSignzy (quote) vs 3-vendor stackQuote — model against the sum of three invoices

The right comparison for a regulated institution is never one rate card against another; it is one consolidated quote against three. Our rankings of the best KYC companies in the US and the top 10 KYC companies for US fintech onboarding include a true-cost section for exactly that exercise.

Questions to Put in Every KYC RFP

  1. What exactly is billable — attempt, completion, approval or module?
  2. Are retries and resubmissions charged?
  3. What is the monthly minimum and does unused allowance roll over?
  4. Which of these are included at the headline rate: document, selfie/liveness, AML screening, SSN/TIN check, driver's-license check, address check, KYB?
  5. Which data sources are passed through at cost?
  6. What is your manual-review rate on a comparable US population, and the SLA?
  7. Are sandbox and test verifications free and unlimited?
  8. What are the API rate limits at each tier (see our best KYC APIs for US developers)?
  9. Is pricing in USD?
  10. What changes at renewal?

Where Does Signzy Fit in a Price Comparison?

Signzy does not publish a rate card, so it will never win a spreadsheet sorted by headline price. It is built to win the second spreadsheet — the one that adds KYB, AML screening, transaction monitoring, US SSN and driver's-license data, and reviewer hours, then compares one contract against three. Ask for tiered per-check pricing at three volume bands and a review-rate benchmark on your population; that is the honest basis for comparing it with the published vendors in this guide.

Third-party signal for the consolidation argument. On r/fintech, a commenter describes Signzy as offering broad checks including AML and OCR with better pricing than several alternatives, and another recommends it for automated KYB — anonymous forum comments, so treat them as directional. On G2, a verified financial-services reviewer credits a "basket of APIs" that brings checks "under one roof" (G2 profile (4.4/5 from 11 reviews as of Sep 18, 2026 — a small sample, read it as a signal rather than a census)). Neither replaces a quote; both support asking for one.
